the nursery.

With just weeks until our baby girl is here, I thought what better time than to share some pictures of her nursery? Our GC was 35 weeks this past Sunday and we are down to weekly appointments! WE ARE SO CLOSE to her arrival and we are SO EXCITED!

If you don’t follow us on social media (IG: journeytothree_ivf; Facebook: Our Journey to Three) you may have missed that we shared her name with everyone! We lost my father rather unexpectedly in March 2015 and his name was Scott. My husband and I knew that regardless if we were going to be having a boy or a girl, the name would be Scottie, to honor my late father.

Her full name will be Scottie Elizabeth Mae. Scottie: after my father. Elizabeth: my mom has always wanted my name to be Elizabeth, but my dad wouldn’t let her because it wasn’t Irish. Instead, the majority of my life she has called me “Liz” and I always answer to the name, LOL. And, I think Scottie Elizabeth sounds beautiful together. Mae: comes from my husband’s father’s side of the family. The support we have received from them has been wonderful, so we thought it would be a special way to honor them as well.

As soon as we knew we were having a girl back in March, the nursery planning commenced. I had been waiting for years to plan and create this space for our little miracle, rainbow baby, so I couldn’t wait a minute longer. Doing the nursery this soon was the BEST thing I have done – we have been adding final touches here and there, but it has been amazing to just enjoy these last few weeks and get other things ready before she is here.

I fell in LOVE with this wallpaper from Project Nursery – the Jolie Wallpaper. I loved the pink floral watercolor design and the softness of it, so we decided to do it as an accent wall. We hired someone to install it because there was no way I wanted to mess it up! Her custom name sign is from Smallwood Home, the bow lamp is from PBteen (but it looks like they only have the table lamp version now), the rocker is from Overstock and it is super soft and SO comfortable, and the pink pouf is from RH Baby + Child. I should also mention her crib is the Wooster Crib from Project Nursery in pure white.

Scottie’s room isn’t overly big, and I knew I didn’t want the room too crammed full of stuff so we went with a smaller dresser. We got the dresser from Target and I love how the legs match the legs of the crib. The darling bow knobs came from Crate&kids and they’re big, beautiful, and excellent quality! Our changing pad is by Hatch Baby from Target – I love how we can wipe it clean and it also has a built-in scale that connects via Bluetooth to your phone. The diaper pail is from Ubbi and we scored it on Amazon Prime Deal Day for half price. And our humidifier was a gift from Crane USA.

To the left of her crip, we have a scalloped table that we got on clearance at Target, a Kate Spade table lamp (a gift from my sweet friend!), a Hatch Baby sound machine, a pink Unicorn, AND watercolor painted embryos – one of them is Scottie!

The most special corner of the room is next to the closet where we have our pineapple fundraising puzzle hanging of all those that helped us on this surrogacy journey! It looks perfect in her room.

One of my MOST favorite things in the room are her curtains – they are blackout and pink ombre and simply stunning. We got them from PBteen.

Here are some pictures of her closet – we were able to add a storage area on the bottom. My husband installed some sliding baskets from Menards and we added some shelving to the side of that for books and miscellaneous items. I love how it turned out!

Just to the right of the closet, we added a [real] Yucca plant. I also had a shop on Etsy use her wallpaper sample and make a custom light switch plate cover as well!

We also put up some minimalist book shelves (that I LOVE) as well for reading to Scottie that we got from RH Baby + Child.

We are slowly continuing to get our house [& pups] ready for the arrival of baby Scottie. We have began washing clothes & blankets and installed the car seat recently as well! It has been extremely heartwarming and magical to put and see the nursery come together. Every little detail and item was picked with Scottie in mind. We have waited six long, hard years for this miracle, rainbow baby and we cannot wait until she is here. This still feels all so surreal to us.

Thank you for taking the time to check out our nursery! We ask that you please continue to pray for our GC — her comfort as the end of pregnancy nears and for a safe labor; we owe her our life!

Thank you everyone for all you continue to do for us – the love, support, and prayers! As soon as Scottie is here, we look forward to introducing you to her!
