…and dosage decrease

I had ultrasound & blood work done yesterday. The ultrasound showed that I had 7 follicles on each side but only measuring around an 8. (Reminder that 16 is mature) Not all of them will mature so we are still in the “safe” zone. My RE lowered my Follistim dosage to 158iu for 2 days (Tuesday/Wednesday) and we go back again tomorrow for another check up. From here on out, I will most likely be at my clinic every 2 days until the IUI happens.

I CANNOT WAIT to be off of Follistim. The nausea is so bad sometimes I can hardly eat; yesterday I could only eat 1/2 of my sandwich for lunch. :-/ No bueno! …and the cramps – man those are awful………& the headaches. Safe to say Follistim is still not my friend.

I forgot to mention in my previous post, that the nurse at the clinic in Gurnee on Saturday was really pushing IVF on me. She said that this process is so stressful & such a rollercoaster of emotions & has a much lower chance of pregnancy when comparing IUI vs IVF (& I have no left fallopian tube) that we should really consider it. We have considered it & are considering it!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the advice though?!?!? NOT.

I had my first acupuncture appointment last night! It seemed to go well. I had the consultation with the doctor then she had me lay on my back and she put the needles in my feet, legs, stomach, forearms, and head. I really hardly felt anything when she was putting the needles in. She left the room and I relaxed for 25-30 minutes. I can’t say 100% that I feel any different yet, but we shall see with time! 🙂 I go back in 1 week for another appointment.

Until next time, xo.

  1. Sounds like we’re in the same boat, or at least close to each other on the water. SO ANNOYING about that nurse’s advice, like you hadn’t thought of that yourself. SERIOUSLY!!!!!!! Happy to hear your acupuncture appointment went well.

  2. I wish people understood that most people going through all this have considered different options and know what is best for them. I hope this works out for you.

  3. I’m glad you’re doing acupuncture, I’ve heard amazing things and I really think that will up your chances! It’s not really something that you feel right away, but trust me, it’s doing something good in there. Best of luck to you!
